Our News
The Côney in flood!!!
85 mm of rain in 12 hours, this has a strong impact on the Côney valley.
The Fontenoy-le-Château monitoring station measured a height of 2.94 m of water, where the level is usually less than 50 cm. Moreover, the record flood of 2011 was exceeded by more than 30 cm. Currently, the city is flooded and our thoughts are with all the people affected.
At the Manufacture, it was mainly the donkeys and horses that had to be moved to higher ground because their fields were flooded.
In short, a lot of water... but fortunately no damage at this stage!

Julie Victoire launches the 2024 baccalaureate!!!
In 2024, the anticipated written French baccalaureate test took place on June 14. This is the date chosen by the bicentenary partners to offer a festive day in tribute to Julie Victoire with the presence of all those involved, elected officials and, in video, the Minister of National Education and Youth of France , Nicole BELLOUBET.
This day was an opportunity to host a public speaking competition in partnership with the Rotary Club of Remiremont. Bravo to the high school students who carried Julie-Victoire's speech loud and clear, imagining her entry into the Pantheon.
Julie-Victoire herself was on the platform (in the form of a hologram) , to challenge us, as her 19th century writings remain blatantly relevant today.
Finally, the afternoon was also the opportunity to inaugurate the work "La Femme face au vent" by the Vosges artist Francis Pierre , which perfectly illustrates the long road and the obstacles in strengthening rights. women.
(Next bicentennial event on June 29 with plays)

Conférence-débat : Naître au Pays d'Epinal, terre d'inspiration et de création
Being born in the Pays d’Epinal, land of inspiration and creation
Like Julie Victoire Daubié, the first high school graduate in France, many personalities were born in the Pays d'Épinal.
To celebrate the bicentenary of his birth (March 26, 1824), come and chat with Alixe Sylvestre , novelist and winner of the 2023 Erckmann-Chatrian Prize ( Le Gars de la Combe at ETT), Hélène Parisot , Vosges historian and short story writer and winner of the Plume de Vair Prize 2023 ( Les Chuchotantes at Liralest) and Eric Scherrer , activist for the cause of women (CIDFF des Vosges) who will debate with journalist Sabine Lesur.
The two writers will discuss in turn their strong connection with the territory, how it built and shaped them, and above all influenced them in their writings. It will inevitably be about women, women of today but also women of yesterday, with the portraits painted in their works. And their sometimes intense and heavy links with their land, the Vosges. And at the same time their difficult quest towards emancipation and independence. Both economic, returning us to the fight of Julie Victoire Daubié who wrote on "" The poor woman in the 19th century "" and psychological. Eric Scherrer, very involved in the defense of the rights of women and families (CIDFF) will bring both his expertise and also his perspective as a man engaged in this difficult fight.
This exchange will be followed by a signing session. FREE ENTRANCE.

Thank you to Lieutenant Mickael Frémiot and his teams for this identification of the estate and the water points which, we hope, will not be necessary to preserve this remarkable historical heritage.

The Manufacture Royale de Bains contributes to the national forest inventory!!!
At the end of August, the Institute of Geographic and Forestry Information (IGN) visited the Manufacture Royale. One of its missions is to map France's forests and analyze their condition.
Each year, around 15,000 inventory points (plots of forest land with a radius of 25 meters) are drawn at random for analysis. In 2023, one of these places is located just behind the Maison des Illustres where Julie-Victoire Daubié, 1st baccalaureate in France, was born!
The inventoryists measure the circumference and height of the trees, calculate their age and growth rate and analyze the composition of the soil: it was an opportunity to discover this profession and the different techniques used!
Thanks to Quentin and Alexis and see you in 5 years to follow the evolution of this little corner of the forest!!!

The Manufacture Royale de Bains is a former tinsmithery founded in 1733. It is located in the Côney valley, the river from which it drew its hydraulic power. The surrounding forests provided him with the wood and coal necessary for his activities, in particular that of the forges. At its height, it provided ⅔ of the tinplate of France useful for the manufacture of household utensils (pans, basins, etc.), tools as well as ship hulls. It employed more than 800 people.
These 1st Meetings are part of the association's motto ""Non solum in memoriam, sed etiam in spem"", borrowed from the historian Jules Michelet, and they aim to magnify the heritage of the Manufacture with contemporary works.
For 4 days, the AAMRB thus offers artists (known or less known) a showcase for presenting their art and selling their works in an atmosphere conducive to the animation of the Manufacture Royale estate, while preserving the historical spirit of the place.
In this festive setting, there will be the possibility for the public and the artists to sit in the bar and snacks.
To apply, please send a mini-CV and an extract of your works to the following address: manufacture-royale@orange.fr , specifying the surfaces/volumes you would like to have (applications close on August 3, 2023) .
